RETAINERS Once the teeth have been moved into their final position, the braces are removed and custom retainers are fabricated. Retainer wear is very important, as they keep the teeth from shifting. We will monitor retainer wear for 2 years. If you loose or break your retainer, please contact our office immeditaely so we can schedule an appointment to have it replaced. Failure to do so may result in some unwanted tooth movement. ESSIX RETAINER The Essix retainer is a type of retainer that is primarily used in our office The Essix retainer is a transparent removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of teeth. Similar to Invisalign trays, Essix retainers have no wires and are virtually invisible.
